Creator Spirit, by whose aid
A translation of Pope Innocent III's hymn, "Veni, Creator Spiritus," by seventeenth-century poet John Dryden. The tune is by Starling Goodwin, an eighteenth-century English organist who became blind as a result of smallpox. He was organist of a number of London churches including St. Saviour's, Southwark, now the Cathedral. This hymn tune is found in Thomas Williams's Psalmodia Evangelica (1789).
