Christ hath a garden walled around
The text, "Christ hath a garden walled around," is probably one of the most beautiful and mystical of Isaac Watts's hymns. It will be familiar to many in the form of Gerald Near's very fine anthem. This version, however, found in the Yattendon Hymnal and the Oxford Hymnal, both dating from the turn of the nineteenth century, combines the text with a tune from William Leighton's Tears and Lamentations of a Sorrowful Soul (1614).
