From Sheba a distant report (Queen of Sheba)
A hymn by the Rev. John Newton from Olney Hymns, 1779. The text is of eight lines of eight syllables, but is in a Peculiar Meter, not in Double Long Meter, since the rhythm is dactylic not iambic. The tune, by Henry B. Walmisley, 1853, is from Peter Maurice (ed.), Choral Harmony: A Collection of Tunes in Short Metre, for Four Voices. London: G. H. Davidson, 1854.
