Fierce was the storm of wind
The text was written by the Rev. Hyde W. Beadon (1812-1891), who was educated at Eton and St. John's College, Cambridge, before taking preferment as Vicar of Haselbury Plucknett, near Crewkerne, Somerset, in 1837. In 1838 he moved to be Vicar of Latton in Wiltshire. The tune "Moccas" was written by Alexander Robert Reinagle, who was organist of St. Peter's-in-the-East, Oxford. Moccas is a small village in Herefordshire.
