Behold a lovely vine

One of New England's earliest composers, Jeremiah Ingalls was the successful choirmaster of the Congregational Church in Newbury, Vermont from 1791 to 1805. He was also a Deacon in the congregation, but following a disagreement was excommunicated by the congregation in 1810. He moved to Rochester, Vermont and later to Hancock, where he died in 1825.
