A student of Widor, Hélène-Gabrielle Fleury-Roy (1876-1957) became in 1903 the first woman to win the Prix de Rome for composition. In later life she was a professor at the Conservatory of Toulouse. The Pastorale is her only known organ piece. There is no indication where, if at all, the pedal is to be used.
