Lambert Chaumont, Suite du 3e Ton
Lambert Chaumont was a composer from the Walloon region of what is now Belgium and began his career as a lay brother in the Carmelite monastery at Liège. He was later ordained priest and was successively Rector of St. Martin's Church at Huy, and then also of the Church of St. Germain and Prior of the Carmelite monastery in the same town. His Livre d'orgue is very much in the French style, and his ingenoius chromatic fugue in the 3e. ton, in which the countersubject is an inversion of the subject, is a particularly brilliant piece of work.
