Christe, qui Lux
William Blitheman (1525-1591), as well as a musician, appears to have been in Roman Catholic orders, and is first heard of as Chaplain of Christ Church, Oxford in 1555, during the reign of Queen Mary. By 1564 he was Master of the Choristers at Christ Church, and in 1585 he was appointed Organist of the Chapel Royal. There he was the teacher of Dr. John Bull (1562-1628), who succeeded him on his death.
