Florence Norvell was born in St. Louis in 1870 and died in Detroit in 1952. Her Silver Trumpet march for "piano or organ" was published in St. Louis by J. L. Peters in 1900 and dedicated to Miss Martha Müller. I have added the directions in square brackets. Not much is known of Florence Norvell except that she seems to have played in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and her married name was Stevens.

| Saunders Norvell (1864-1949) was the President of the Norvell-Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, shown in this 1910 postcard of Washington Avenue and Third Street. It is not known what relation if any Florence Norvell was to Saunders Norvell, although it is possible that he was her brother |
