Gabriel Fauré, Fugue in A minor
Gabriel Fauré was a church organist for sixty years, and according to many of his contemporaries was the best organist in Paris, yet sadly he committed not a single one of his improvisations at the Church of the Madeleine in Paris to paper. This Fugue in A minor is the third of his Huit pièces brèves, Op.84 and is composed in a style that in many ways suits it more to the organ than to the piano for which it was composed.
