Organ of the Bavokerk, Haarlem, The Netherlands, built by Christian Müller, 1735-1738.
Perhaps the finest organ ever built, with a façade of 32 ft. tin pipes. When I first saw and
heard it in 1969 it quite took my breath away. Part of the effect is that the rest of the
church, though in its way very impressive, is extremely puritan and plain, so when you
turn around and see the organ ... wow!!! It was well worth braving the freezing cold,
unheated church in February.
