Wassail, wassail, out of the milk pail
This wassailing song alludes to the fact that the cider used in wassailing was taken around in a milk pail and poured onto the trees. The text is found in the play King John by John Bale (1495-1563) who was Bishop of Ossory in the Church of Ireland. The tune is supplied based on a traditional English wassailing song.
