Buxton Souling Song Untitled Souling Index Untitled
In the Manchester City News for December 1902, E. Letherbrow notes that this souling song was sung in Buxton, Derbyshire:

Bold Samson was a souler, when souling first began,
He did not fear King Herod, nor any other man.

Lord Nelson went a-souling, when souling first began,
[... several lines missing ...]

Go down into your cellar, and see what you can find,
If your flagons are not empty, I'm sure you will be kind.

And if you have no plenty of apples and strong beer,
We'll come no more a-souling until this time next year.
