Byrd Passion Untitled Untitled Untitled
William Byrd (c. 1540-1623) wrote Turbarum Voces in 1607 as the choral parts of a simple St. John Passion for use with the Gospel for Good Friday. The melody is in the tenor of the three-part choral writing, originally intended for STB, but with today's vocal ranges probably best sung as SAB.

The remaining parts of the Gospel (John 18:1-19:42) are read or chanted by individuals.
