Softly the night is sleeping
The Rev. Edward Abiel Washburne, D.D. (1819-1881) grew up as a New England Congregationalist but following a Harvard education and becoming a Congregationalist minister converted to Episcopalianism and became the Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was later Rector of St. John's, Hartford, Connecticut, a Professor at Berkeley Divinity School and Rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Joseph Mosenthal (1834-1896). Mosenthal, who came from a distinguished German-Jewish family, and studied organ under his father and violin under Ludwig Spohr in his native town of Cassel. He emigrated to the United States in 1853 and from 1860 until his retirement in 1887 was organist of Grace Episcopal Church in New York City.
