Thomas Campion, As by the Streames of Babilon Untitled Lent Horizontal
Thomas Campion, poet, musician and physician, was a man of many parts. Both the text and the music come from Thomas Campion's First Booke of Ayres. Campion's metrical version of Psalm 137 is first rate by the standards of his day, and in particular highly superior to Sternhold & Hopkins' Old Version. I have omitted the two bloodthirsty last stanzas about the desirability of slaughtering Babylonian children.
