Edward Miller was born in Norwich but spent most of his career as organist of Doncaster Parish Church. He held the degree of Doctor of Music from Cambridge University. He is best known for his tune, "Rockingham," often sung to the text, "When I survey the wondrous cross." I have chosen Doane's well-known text, "Thou art the Way, by thee alone" to pair with Dr. Miller's fine but little-known tune, "Doncaster."
