Creighton, Behold, now praise the Lord Untitled Untitled Untitled
The Rev. Dr. Robert Creighton, D.D. (1636-1734), whose grandfather had been Bishop of Bath & Wells in the Laudian period, belonged to a prominent High Church family. He took his M.A. from Trinity College, Cambridge, and was Professor of Greek at Cambridge from 1666 to 1672. He became Precentor of Wells Cathedral in 1674 and remained there until his death at the age of 98 sixty years later. He was quite a prolific composer of music in a very conservative though pleasant style.
