The World itself keeps Easter Day
The Rev. John Sebastian Bach Hodges (1830-1915), D.D., Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Baltimore, Maryland, and one of the original Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, was the son of Dr. Edward Hodges, sometime organist of Trinity Church in New York, and like his father was a very fine composer. His siblings Jubal, George Frederick Handel and Faustina Hasse Hodges were also very fine composers. Some of Jubal and Faustina's compositions are to be found on my "Anglican Chant" web page.

The text is from Carols for Eastertide (1854).
