William Knapp, I Heard a Great Voice
William Knapp, who was Parish Clerk (choir director) of Poole Parish Church in Dorset, wrote "I heard a great voice" as part of a longer Easter anthem which he published in A Sett of New Psalm-Tunes and Anthems (1738).
Colored lithograph by H. Burn showing Poole Harbour in Dorset with St. James' Church where Knapp was Parish Clerk in the center, shortly before the church was rebuilt in 1818
