Zeuner, Sanctus & Benedictus Early American Horizontal
Charles Zeuner (1795-1857) was born in Saxony and studied music under Johann Nepomuk Hummel. On coming to the United States in the 1820s he worked as a musician first in Boston and then in Philadelphia, where he was organist of several Congregational, Episcopal and Presbyterians. The text of the Sanctus and Benedictus used in this setting is an early nineteenth-century Lutheran one.
