A translation of one of the hymns of St. Ambrose by The Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman, set to a tune by William Tuckey. Tuckey, who was born in Somerset and sang as a Lay Clerk in Bristol Cathedral Choir, came to the USA in 1753 and was Parish Clerk of Trinity Church in Wall Street, New York. He was responsible for organizing the first performance of Handel's Messiah in North America.
