John Speller's Web Pages - Cornish Carols
Glory to God that (sic.) reigns above
This carol is actually stanzas 6 to 8 of Isaac Watts's hymn, Star of Bethlehem. It seems that both halves of the hymn were sung as separate Christmas carols in Cornwall. This section is found in A Selection of Christmas Carols, Pieces and Anthems, Suitable for Christmas (London: W. Kent & Co.; Penzance: F. Rodda, ca.1860). It is also found in a broadside printed by Harris of Helston (Roud Index B9699).
