Wadely, And thou Bethlehem
Himself the son of a well-known organist, Frederick William Wadely, O.B.E., M.A., Mus.Doc., A.R.C.M., F.R.C.O (1882-1970) was for fifty years the much-loved organist of Chester Cathedral. A story is told that two organists happened to meet in the street one day in Chester and one of them asked the other if he was aware that Fred Wadely and Igor Stravinsky were both born in the same year. "Who's Stavinsky?" was the reply. This anthem was first published in 1920.
