This appears to be a variant version of the carol "As I rode out this enderes night," and comes from the Commonplace Book of Richard Hill, a London merchant of c. 1536, preserved in the Library of Balliol College, Oxford. It gives a good idea of the kind of Christmas carol that was being sung in London on the eve of the Reformation.
